Download Myths and Facts on Energy Bill
Hello all, There is A LOT of misinformation being circulated in the press and on the radio regarding the content of the bill. As a response, NAR has put together the attached myths/facts document that should answer many of the questions that are floating around out there. If you have heard something that this document does not address please let me know and we will find an answer to the question. Please forward the attached document to your membership. One thing that I would add to the attached is that we are still in the early parts of the legislative process with regards to this bill. NAR has been engaged both in the House and the Senate on this issue, and now it must necessarily be taken up by the Senate, and then taken to conference (assuming it passes the Senate) where differences in the bills will be ironed out before final passage in both houses of congress. NAR is continuing to stay engaged to make sure that we secure the best possible incentives and the least stringent requirements in the residential and commercial codes and provisions included in the bill. As an example of our engagement, it wasn't until very late on the night before passage that we were able to secure an exemption for existing residential and commercial buildings to any energy labeling program. During the process I laid out we hope to continue to improve the bill in this manner.
