NABOR’S PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER…..

Photographer Phillip Colwart captured some very flattering pictures of our NABOR family. Many agents also inquired about his doing professional studio headshots for their business cards. It may be time to update those pictures.
Phillip has been a friend to NABOR for a couple of years now. He also photographs weddings, high school senior portraits, family and baby portraits and more. He photographs interiors for Tangi Lifestyles Magazine. He would like to also mention that if you have a high priced home that would require more-than-average photography for the MLS, please keep him in mind.

HAPPY PASSOVER AND EASTER…….
Wishing all of you a Happy Passover, which begins this year at sunset on March 29 and continues for 5 days, until April 5. Happy Easter to our Christian NABORS on Sunday, April 4. The NABOR Office will be closed on April 2 in observance of Good Friday.
Inquiring NABOR Minds……. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Spring Equinox. There is also another long and more literal explanation that explains how the date when Easter is determined that covers thousands of years of history, mysterious astronomical calculations and a little church and political wrangling.
One interesting side note about the date of Easter is that the Eastern Orthodox churches do not celebrate Easter (called Pascha) on the same date as most other Christian churches. The Eastern Orthodox Church uses a different method to calculate the date and it generally falls a couple of weeks later than the western Easter. Now you know!
NABOR BLOOD DRIVE….
Thank you to all the NABORs who have responded so enthusiastically to our upcoming Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 7 from 10:00am – 2:30pm.
It is wonderful to have so many of you inquiring and signing up to donate. Many have asked if the NABOR Blood Drive is also open to people who do not belong to NABOR. Yes, all are welcome and thank you for your interest. Just call the NABOR Office to reserve a time. 985-892-5200. Reminder calls will be going out to those who have previously signed up.
The Blood Mobile can accommodate 3 donors every 20 minutes, so donation times are staggered so you don’t have too long of a wait. The entire process involves less than an hour of your time. The actual donation only takes about 10 minutes. We will have fun snacks available during our 1st NABOR Blood Drive!
If you are healthy, over 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds, you can give the gift of life.
Did you know…………………
95% of the population will need blood by the age of 75;
Less than 5% of the eligible population actually donates blood;
Blood is only available by the generosity of volunteer donors;
A trained health care professional will take your BP, temperature and pulse before you donate;
The average person has 10 – 12 pints of blood. Only 1 pint is drawn when donating;
Your body replaces the plasma fluid within 24 hours. The red cells take about 5 weeks;
You can donate blood every 8 weeks;
Your one donation can save up to 3 lives;
One donation can provide the donor and their beneficiaries with assurance coverage for up to one year;
The Blood Center serves over 30 hospitals and outpatient facilities in Southeast LA & Southern MS;

NABOR CONTINUING EDUCATION…………
The NABOR Education Committee has scheduled various continuing- ed classes for your convenience in eastern and central St. Tammany Parish, and in the Hammond area. Classes are free for NABOR members. Non-NABORS are welcome to attend any class for $20 each. Everyone must register for all classes in advance.
Thank you for understanding that if you reserve a seat in a class, but do not attend without canceling 24 hours in advance, you will be assessed a $20 No Show Fee. Space is usually limited and we want everyone interested to be able to attend these classes. Cancel by calling the same place you registered.

Please know NABOR respects and must strictly enforce the LREC mandates involving protocol for continuing-ed classes. This includes a few important points mentioned below:
Classes will begin promptly and end on time;
There can be no admittance for anyone arriving late;
Sorry, but any valid reasons offered for tardiness still can not get you in class. Once class officially begins, no one else can enter the room;
Agents must stay for the entire class;
Agents can not keep getting up to handle phone calls. Anyone who does this will be asked to leave and no credit will be given for any time attended.
No cell phones, pagers, or any other electronic devices can be used during the classes;
Cell phones must be turned completely off and put away (not just sitting on the table). Some instructors might collect cell phones from those attending at the beginning of the class and re-distribute afterwards.
Also remember a few other points that will make your class participation easier…….
Arriving on time means being in your seat at least 10 minutes before announced class time;
Try to have your Real Estate License Number handy and ready to present when you sign in;
Remember to also SIGN OUT at the end of the class;
Allow time for anticipated traffic and parking problems. While parking at the NABOR Office is always plentiful, we have recently discovered that parking at some other facilities can be quite challenging;
Unless it is clearly advertised that lunch will be available, either complimentary or for purchase, please don’t assume a substantial menu will be served. And class breaks do not allow enough time for you to leave to go pick up something. It may be wise to eat breakfast and/or lunch before arriving for class;
Facility classroom temperatures always fluctuate. Please bring a sweater if you chill easily;
Non-NABORS can pay their $20 course fee either via check or VISA/ MASTERCARD in advance or on the day of class;
No-Show Fees ($20) will be invoiced. Any outstanding financial balances reflect a member who is considered Not In Good Standing with their professional association.

NEW AGENT ORIENTATION CLASSES……
New agent classes are always held at the NABOR Office once a month at 9:00am on Mondays. Agents should arrive at 8:45am.
Sorry, but agents arriving late can not be allowed in and everyone must stay for the entire class.
All required paperwork and paid fees must be in the Wednesday before every class date. Payment can be made by VISA / MASTERCARD or checks, made payable to NABOR. Please remember people must first have been issued a real estate license before they can take this class.
Future New Agent Class Dates: April 19, May 17, June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20,
October 18 and December 6.

STATE SPRING CONFERENCE….
The Louisiana REALTORS Association Spring Conference is April 28-30, 2010 in Baton Rouge. LR has assembled 2-1/2 days of top notch programming for REALTOR brokers and agents, including education, industry information, legislative activities, networking and more.
